On the way to the battle at Jena-Auerstedt in 1806, Napoleon’s troops left a canon behind at the guesthouse in Tautenhain. Since then, this canon bears the name “Zur Kanone”.

Directions

From the Autobahn exit A4 Hermsdort / Ost or A9 Bad Klosterlausnitz, drive into the town Bad Klosterlausnitz and follow the signs toward Bad Köstritz / Tautenhain.

After driving 4km through the forest, you will arrive in Tautenhain. You can find us on the left side at the entrance into town.

Even today, we invite guests to our yearly “canon festival”, which takes place at the end of September. Here, you can experience historical uniformed groups in action, folklore, dance and much more. The Sörgel family – has been running the traditional guesthouse for 7 generations.
